Design Intention

To design a Nature preserve gateway building and orientation center. Facility will use an existing and abandoned mill structure.
Respecting the old site material of ruin mill, to keep partial of it and incorporate new material to create fusion experience for the vistiors,
sending the message to a transition space of urban into nature. Projecting one into the distant future and at the same time receiving from
the nature surroundings is having a scope that captures this process, and the design tends to become a telescope that performs this experience.

Structural Design

The structure members containing the preexisting materials of concrete floor and CMU walls, partial CMU will be remove.
The new structure system will bring in Steel columns and beams, that hangs diagonally to an angle, wood decks, metal cables, CMU walls..

Environmental Design

Due to the site condition of 30 ft tall trees shading, the building enjoy natural shading from all directions, but to get natural day lighting during operation hours,
transparent glass side are exposed the most one the West side and partially North side. Water is next to the building
